Ictericia obstructiva y reacción pancreática secundarios a quiste hidatídico

Ictericia obstructiva. Albendazol.

TRADUCCIÓN
Resumen(en)

Echinococcosis is an increasingly less prevalent disease in our country. The organ most commonly affected organ is the liver, followed by lung. Patients usually remain asymptomatic until adulthood, when the hydatid cyst can rupture into the biliary tree and cause obstructive jaundice, cholangitis, pancreatitis and, in the most severe cases, it can rupture into the peritoneum causing peritonitis. The more sensitive and specific diagnostic test available nowadays is the contrast-enhanced abdominal CT scan and the treatment of choice with which higher response rates and lower rates of recurrence are achieved is the combination of albendazole and surgery.

Key words: echinococcosis. Obstructive jaundice. Albendazole.
